The best part about being a dancer with Hedwig Dances is…

The process and puzzles of manipulating material, and learning alongside some great thinkers and movers. I’m also getting a real kick out of all the Spanish that I hear and would love to pick up.

If you weren’t a professional dancer you would be…

This is such a longshot but I’ve always fixated on being a female surfer ever since I was in about middle school…too bad I’ve never even hopped on a board, so for now I’ll just stay on dry land.

The last book you read was…

Beautiful book called Swimming Studies by Leanne Shapton. This was about my fourth time reading it.

Which celebrity would play you in the film about your life?

Easily Drew Barrymore, a little awkward but still lovable.

Outside the dance studio, you can be found…

I spend a lot of time riding the bus, working odd jobs, wasting time in coffee shops, reading, and making movement films.

What is your TV guilty pleasure?

I currently don’t have a TV, which is probably good for me…Because I’ve been known to watch Law and Order SVU for up to 6 hours on occasion.

The three things you couldn’t live without are…

My three brothers, absolutely.

How did you know you wanted to be a professional dancer?

I remember the moment like it was this morning. Performed Paul Taylor’s “Aureole” in high school, set by my teacher and former Paul Taylor Dance Company member Eileen Cropley. After I took my bow it was all downhill from there and now I can’t get enough of it.

If you could meet anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?

My grandfather’s mother, I’ve got a lot of heart for my grandpa and would have loved to meet his mother.

Do you have a secret talent?

I can pinch really hard with my toes…like really hard.

Tell me about the time you got in big trouble when you were a kid.

Once during lunch in middle school, I hurled a milk carton across the gym at one of my friends. It definitely exploded everywhere and I definitely got busted…
