(2002) Long Trip

Description

Long Trip is Maray Gutierrez’s reflection on a physical, emotional, and spiritual journey between two vastly different worlds. Set to the stirring music of Dead Can Dance and Apocalyptica, this duet for Gutierrez and her partner Victor Alexander, finds two people travelling together on a path toward an unknown yet compelling destination. She and Alexander glide effortlessly through graceful, stunning lifts and complex floor work. Long Trip is finely crafted and flavored with dramatic intensity and emotional poetry.

“We feed hope with good will, creativity and lots of courage. New times approach and we build them together when love becomes measure and consequence.”

Critique(s)

“…Tense and anxious, the dancing alternates between desperate togetherness and a kind of ricocheting apart.”
