For over three decades, Hedwig Dances has fostered and mentored pre-professional and professional dancers in an inclusive community where dance can be practiced and explored through open dialogue between dancers and instructors.
Hedwig Dances’ workshops provide comprehensive skill building and self-exploration that serve both dance professionals and enthusiasts. Our classes provide a stimulating environment for dancers of all ages to study, perform and learn from practicing choreographers and dance teachers. Hedwig Dances’ educational programming offer somatic awareness, unique partnering and a fusion of contemporary technique with roots in folkloric traditions.
Train with the Hedwig Dances ensemble in modern dance technique with an emphasis on partnering skills and low-flying vocabulary. Open company classes are aimed at professional and pre-professional dancers, immersing them in Hedwig Dances’ aesthetics and artistic processes.
Hedwig Dances will hold an open audition on Sunday, June 25 from 2 – 4 PM at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn in Chicago. The audition includes a class, plus improvisation. To reserve your space, please send an email to email@example.com. Remember to bring a resume and photo.
Audition fee is $15, cash or check.
Please consider taking our Open Company Class. These classes focus on technique, presence and partnering. Classes are a means to develop our movement aesthetic, and are a potential conduit into the company. Classes are also a way for us to get to know you better.
