Hedwig Dances, the esteemed Chicago-based contemporary dance ensemble under the artistic direction of founder Jan Bartoszek, presents Play+Bauhaus | Hedwignites 2018, a festive benefit gala to support the company’s accomplishments and endeavors, Friday, March 23, from 6 -10pm in the elegant and sophisticated setting of The Arts Club of Chicago. This evening’s event will be staged in the playful spirit of Bauhaus, as will the evening’s dance presentation, excerpted from FUTURA, the company’s latest work in formation. An exciting new highlight in the evening’s proceeding is the inaugural presentation of the Hedwig Dance Awards.

The Hedwig Award was established to honor members of the dance community for their significant contributions to contemporary dance. The efforts of transformational leaders, artists, critics, mentors, and funders who create, illuminate, and nourish contemporary dance have created a vibrant space for companies like Hedwig Dances to grow and succeed. In a spirit of gratitude for their many contributions to contemporary dance, Hedwig Dances will continue to recognize and celebrate these often unsung heroes, beginning this evening.
